Hymn and Scripture Challenge #9 - I Surrender All

Happy Friday to you, my friends!
Guess what? With this Scripture post, I am now back on track and up to date! Thanks to Patter doing a little shift and taking a week off, I had just the time I needed! :o)
Guess what else? I'm not going to say it...no, I'm not! I'm just going to think it this time, and you all know what I'm talking about, right? lol
"I Surrender All"...What does that mean? Think about it for a minute. Are we really willing to surrender ALL to the Lord? Everything? What about our scrapbooking stash? Did your heart just stop? lol Well, you know, all of our blessings and gifts come from the Lord in the first place, don't they? Shouldn't we be more than willing to give everything up for Him?
In Luke 14:33 Jesus says:
"In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple."
James 4:7a  says:
 "Submit yourselves, then, to God."
I considered both of these verses for my page but when I read the Parable in Matthew, I knew this was the passage I would use. I've enlarged it in a picture below so you can read it better. It makes you think, doesn't it? That's what the Parables are for...to make us think! So let's think about it...and then let's be willing to do it! :o)

I created a pocket with my doily, and my hymn page is removable.
Then I covered my page with pearls in reference to the Scripture verses.

Papers: Recollection Cardstock;
Dies: Spellbinders Nestabilities - Standard Circles,
Sizzix - Circle, Scallop Lace;
Tim Holtz On The Edge - Scallop;
MM Slice Design Card: Noel;
Ink: Distress Ink - Dusty Concord;
Flower Center Pearls: Gifts from Friday;
My Stash: Paper Doily, Other Pearls, Pearl Lace Trim, Flowers.

Usually when I post the Hymn video I like to use one that has the lyrics so that you can see them. My older brother is a drummer, so I think you'll understand why this had to be the version I chose! You really get a mixed bag of music styles around here, so you'll never know what my favorite is! lol I hope you enjoy it! :o)

This is so pretty! Love the clever use of the doily, the colors and all of the gems. It almost looks like butterfly wings beneath your journaling. Love your new blog design. . I've been a bit occupied and haven't visited in a while so it may not be all that new, but it's still lovely!! Blessings!

Nancy, firstly - thank you for your lovely words on my blog about my page for this hymn. Life is still up and down a little for me but through it all - I know the joy of the Lord.

I do like your choice of purple and all those pearls look so good.
I enjoyed reading your choice of scripture.

Nancy, Once again you have made my day brighter by your artistic take on a scripture verse and a hymn. Stunning in the simple beauty you have created for this hymn. The pearl studded flowers atop the paper doily are an elegant pocket to spiritual wisdom. Thank you Nancy for this shot to my heart :-)

Love you - Leslie

Youch! Don't make me think about having to give up my scrappy stash. LOL Honestly I have thought about that before. We're such material creatures sometimes aren't we. That's a sad fact to have to admit considering the sacrifice that was made for us. Your page is beautiful. The doily is just gorgeous used that way and you've embellished it just right. You get an A+ from me. :-) Hugs!

Wow Nancy what an amazing page! Just beautiful. I agree and have had to give up some of my stamping for the Lord, but I have found out since I did it, that is exactly what I needed to do to make my life less hectic and now it seems much more fun. God is good!

What a pleasure to read that we are sisters in Jesus Christ :) PRAISE THE LORD! It's so true... he deserves it ALL. Nothing is worth more to spend my time with, than with my loved Lord. Therefore it is so wonderful to ask him if it's okay to do this or that and accept his answer. I accept when it's a NO. My time is in HIS hands... and therefor under his reign. He's testing, if I decide on my own, or if I keep under his guidance. Where my treasures are, there will be my heart... :) He's not forbidding me to craft as long it is not moving away my heart from him. My heart is undivided. I'm Christian since August 2004 only. My Hubby too... we were both catched by him in the same time after beeing married since a year. And we're still following the Lamb and are at the Church in Zurich as we do believe Epheser 5:32 "I speak concerning Christ and the church" (as well as Matth.16:18 & 1.Tim.3:15). To let things allways means a bit of dying, but it is a gain :) "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Phil.1:21
BIG Hugs to you, my sister :)
The Lord may be with you
Angie
