Hymn and Scripture Challenge #5 - Cleanse Me

Happy Spring day to all of you!
I'm back with a new Scripture Challenge page! The hymn Cleanse Me is another familiar favorite, although I know it as Search Me, O God. It's a beautiful, prayerful song that is very meaningful to sing. I've included the words to all four verses at the end of this post, but I want to share the first verse here:

"Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray;

See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free."

Isn't that beautiful? For my Scripture verse I used 1 John 1:9 which says:
"If we confess our sins,
 He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Yes, God is faithful! Every single time we ask for forgiveness...He will give it! He doesn't hold a grudge at our disobedience, or set a limit on how many times we will be forgiven. He understands our human frailty and weakness! He knows our heart when we fail Him! He cleans away all the sin and sets us free! That wonderful freedom is only available to us  because of Jesus, and His sacrifice on the cross. What a blessing that is...what a gift! :o)
My page is clean and simple! ;o) I had this image in my head as soon as I heard which hymn we were doing this time. With the aid of my Slice cards it came together nicely. After cutting out the pitcher I realized there was no basin or bowl on the card. So this is actually a tab cut in half. I thought it worked very well. Yellow is a color I don't gravitate towards. Every once in a while I challenge myself to use yellow. Since I wanted a background paper that looked like old wallpaper, this one with the yellow flowers was perfect. I think this page symbolically displays the message of the song! :o)

These two gentlemen are wonderful and sing this song beautifully!
In this first video they sing the first verse of the song, and it's very short.
I'm also adding a second video.
It's longer, as it contains some talking before they sing.
I've added it for those of you who have time and would enjoy a chuckle or two!

CLEANSE ME (also known as SEARCH ME O GOD)

Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray;
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy word and make me pure within;

Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame;

Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine;

Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;

I now surrender, Lord, in me abide.

O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival, start the work in me;
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

Your pitcher and basin look wonderful Nancy, love the yellow, for after all it's an important colour for Easter. What a fine way to honour this psalm. Hugs, Ira x

Such a great post! Sometimes we just have to go back to the basics and forget about all the daily drama.
