Lia Stampz Challenge #48 - Baby

Hello, my friends!
Today starts another fun challenge over at Lia Stampz! This time around the theme is "Baby"! Isn't that easy?
The Lia Stampz image that I've used on my card is called "Pregnancy" and you can find it over at Whimsy Stamps right HERE. I had some more fun with my Cricut and cut out this sweet onsie for the card base. The sweet image was colored and then cut with a Spellbinder. A sentiment and a few embellishments and it's all finished!
So please pop on over to Lia Stampz and take a look at what the rest of the DT has come up with. Then create a project and join in the fun! :o)

I Had Myself Some Fun!

Hello again, my friends!
Can you believe that I am back already? I was catching up on some blogging this morning when I was totally inspired to get to work!
I've always been a big fan of Page Maps. Becky is such a talent and all of her sketches are super fun! She often has challenges over on her blog but I've never entered...I think I've been too intimidated to try. Since I felt so inspired by the sketch, and since a great prize is up for grabs, I thought I might as well give it a shot! You can read all about it HERE.
One of my favorite things to do with a sketch is to try to follow the sketch very closely. If it's inspired me to create...well, why mess with a good thing, right? That's the way Becky's Page Maps are...they're just filled with inspiring goodness!
So here is the sketch:

Isn't it fun? As you can see by my page, I did stick quite closely to the sketch. The base is black cardstock. Then I used kraft cardstock to do the four background pieces. I chose to texture each piece with embossing folders but keeping to the patterns in the sketch. I created a pocket from the same black cardstock and included a kraft tag. I created my own little polaroid frame using the kraft and a woodgrain stamp. I even added tiny little hearts just like in the sketch. I didn't use the speech bubbles though. Instead I opted to use just my title on the background, and added a Tim Holtz timepiece. As for the photos...I have a real interest in doing some heritage style layouts. Unfortunately, I do not have any old family photos to work with. Fortunately, Pamela over at Free Vintage Digital Stamps has been generous enough to provide me with this fabulous fake family. They haven't photographed true to color as they are a lovely sepia tone that works beautifully with the page. The tag inside the pocket provides lots of space for journaling. I can either journal about my sorrow over not having any family photos to play with, or I can make up stories about these pretend family members! Hmmm...which would be more fun? lol

Hymn and Scripture Challenge #13 - O God, Our Help in Ages Past

Hello, my dear friends!
I've been having a bit of trouble getting back into the swing of things since I got home. I still haven't made it around to visit some of you...but I hope to very soon.
I finally got to work finishing this Hymn and Scripture page that I started some time ago. The hymn this time is "O God, Our Help in Ages Past." I think it will be a familiar one to most of you! To create this page I pulled out some of my dies and punches, and just put them all together to make a scene of sorts. I was inspired by Verse one, where it says:
"O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home!"
We always think of our homes as being our shelter, don't we? They provide safety and security to us. When a storm hits, we head inside to rest in our fortress, right? Trees also provide us with shelter; from sun, wind and rain. However, as we have learned from many of the natural disaster around the world...the security of our homes or trees is only temporary and fleeting. They will crumble and fall when facing hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc.
For my Scripture verse I chose Psalm 91:1-2. It says:
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I trust.'"
How incredible it is to be able to trust the everlasting shelter of the Almighty Himself!! He will NEVER crumble or fall! We can dwell and rest in His shadow FOREVER, and all we have to do is trust in Him! So, now I tell you that HE is MY refuge and my fortress, MY God in whom I trust! :o)

Paper Shaper - Venetian Corner;

Sushi Dolls #16 - Aida

Hello, my friends!

I'm back...live and in person! Well, as much as I can be online! lol
We enjoyed a wonderful little holiday, and I thank you all for your "happy holiday" wishes! I also want to thank you for stopping by and commenting on my scheduled posts! I so appreciate each of you! :o)

Today I have another new Sushi Doll to share with you. Her name is Aida, and she is from the August Fairytale release. Isn't she sweet? It looks to me like she's dressed in little flower petals, so I made her a little flower home! I cut the flowers out with my Cricut and did some inking. I curled the petals up a bit to add dimension. I then added a layer of cheesecloth to give some texture behind the image. I tied a doubled triple bow with seam binding and added it along with a few mini roses. Finally, I used some Liquid Pearls and Stickles to add some sparkle. Pop on over to Susi's Shop and take a look at all her fabulous new images. They're so much fun to play with!

I'll never be able to catch up on all that I missed while I was gone but I do hope to be around to visit you all very soon! Happy Days to you all! :o)

This photo shows some of the sparkle:

For my card I used a fun image from Sushi Dolls called Walter. He was part of the special April release and you can find him in the store HERE. He makes me think of an old photo, so I kind of went with that idea. I printed the image, cut it out, and then distressed it with both my distress tool and ink. No coloring this time. I added the little "yay" myself, as the pennant flag comes empty. Following the sketch I added this great washi tape that I got in a Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I even tore the image piece so that I could add washi tape to hold it together.

Materials Used:
Papers: Recollections - Cardstock;
Stamp: CTMH - For Every Occasion;
Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black,
Distress Ink - Walnut Stain;
Dies: Spellbinders - A-2 Matting Basics B;
Washi Tape: Simon Says Stamp Card Kit.

Lia Stampz Challenge #47 - SUMMER

Hello, my friends!
*I am off on a little holiday! I have a couple of posts scheduled while I'm away but I won't be doing any blogging until sometime later next week!
Today begins another new challenge over at Lia Stampz! We had some really beautiful entries in our Color Scheme challenge. Thank you to those of you who participated! :o)
The new challenge is "Summer" so I've created a fun summertime card! Summer's days are numbered, you know, and Fall is coming quick!
I've used the Lia Stampz image called Bicycle and you can find it at Whimsy Stamps right HERE. All of Lia's other images are available HERE.
I created another scene card for this challenge. For some reason the colored background is not showing up but the sky is blue and the grass is green! I punched some grass and cut some clouds. I stamped some flowers, colored them up and cut them out. I was inspired to frame the image this way by Natalie and her lovely card here at Delightful Details.
So pop on over to Lia Stampz and join in the fun "Summer" challenge! You have until August 31st to participate! I hope you all have happy Summer days and I'll be around to see you when I'm back! :o)

Hymn and Scripture Challenge #12 - Leaning on the Everlasting Arms

Hello, my friends!
*I am off on a little holiday! I have a couple of posts scheduled while I'm away but I won't be doing any blogging until later next week!
This hymn is another beautiful hymn of comfort and encouragement! Yes, it is a definite favorite of mine! The first verse says:

"What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
leaning on the ever lasting arms.
Refrain:
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms."

As I mentioned in another recent Hymn and Scripture Challenge post, there is nothing comparable to the JOY and PEACE we can have from putting our trust and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ! :o)
For my page I printed the hymn music sheet out on white cardstock. I then used my Cricut to cut out all the wording from the printed music sheet. I then used some of the leftovers to punch out some flowers and layer them with pink cardstock. I wrote my Scripture a little bit crooked but decided it was okay. I then used a Christmas stamp set and made little banners that say "peace" and "joy". The Scripture verse is found in Psalm 16:11. It says:

"You have made known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasure at your right hand."

Please remember that the Lord's arms are open wide to each of us...ready for us to lean on! :o)

Papers: Recollections - Cardstock;
Cricut Cartridge: Alphabet;
Dies: Spellbinders Shapeabilities - Fair Isle Pendants
Punches: Assorted flower punches from my stash,
Martha Stewart - Branch;
Stamps: Hampton Art - Joyous Holiday;

Altered Item Using Ephemera's Vintage Garden Goodies!

Hello, my friends!
I've got so many big projects on the go that I'm practically running in circles! lol
I thought I'd pop in this evening with a quick share of a project I finished a few days ago. It's another fun one using a free printable from Ephemera's Vintage Garden. As soon as I saw Debbie put THIS page up, I knew just what I was going to do with it!
I've had these two paper mache bottles kicking around for many years. I always intended to paint them with detailed labels. Well...I've been too busy lately playing with paper to do any painting. Am I ever happy about that now because I had lots of fun with this! I even managed to fit a bit of painting in along with the paper. I painted them to replicate an antique tin I have. I should have included the tin in the photo but didn't think of it...of course! lol They turned out just the way I wanted them to! Debbie's fabulous printables were the perfect finishing touch! Oh...I guess the ribbons and flowers were the "finishing" touch but you know what I mean! :o)
Debbie has an Etsy Shop and she just happens to be having a sale right now! Pop on over to  her blog Ephemera's Vintage Garden and read the details!

I neglected to show the top of the lids in the photo but the circle printables on the sheet fit perfectly!
This is the back side:

Thanks so much for stopping by!  :o)

OOOH LA LA!! That's Amore!

Hello, my friends!
I had so much fun making this card! The image is another wonderful design by Wendy Burns called "Amore". You can find it in Wendy's Etsy shop HERE. It's such a fun image to play with! I colored it up quite simply and added some photo corners. I used my Cricut to cut out the Eiffel Tower, and a punch to make the doily. I put it all together and added a bunch of bling. When it was all finished I sprayed it with Perfect Pearls Mist. It shimmers beautifully!
I think I'll have to send this one to my oldest daughter. She has some lovely memories of her time in Paris! :o)

Here's another photo that shows the sparkle:
