Just a Little Update

Hello, my friends!

I just wanted to pop in with a little bit of an update!
I've been busy making some changed to my DT schedule lately.
Then I realized I've been stepping down from some of my teams,
and not even letting you know.
I thought I would let you know about one today! lol

The new Cards and More Shop Blog DT announcement has just been posted.
I am not included in the poster...*sniff, sniff*
After several years on the DT, I made the tough decision to step down.
Sweet Dunja has referred to it as "taking a break",
and that may just be what it is.
When she made all the other new DT badges, she made this one for me:

Isn't that fun? lol

Here's the rest of the DT:

Congratulations to all of them!
I wish them all the very best in the year ahead!

Big thanks for all the fun!
We'll see...maybe my "pause" won't be so long! ;o)

Miss Kate Cuttables - Guest Designer

Hello, my friends!

I'm really happy to be Guesting for Miss Kate Cuttables today!
Are you familiar with MKC?
They have so many fabulous files to play with!
You'll want to head over there...when you're finished here! :o)

One thing that's really fun about these files is that they can be used as cut files,
or as print and cut files.
I decided to do some of each.

Here's what I made:

It's an easel card! Isn't it fun?

This sweet image was done as a print and cut.
I inked the edges, adhered it to the cut base, and added the Stickles.

The title was also done as a print and cut.
I inked the edges, and then mounted it to the base with foam tape.
The foam tape raised it up to serve as a stopper for the top.

Here's a side view.

To finish it off, I added some pearls around the scallops of the front base.

Other Materials Used:
Machine: Cricut Explore Air;
Bling: Crafts - Pearls;
Ink: Distress Ink - Walnut Stain;
Stickles: Diamond.

Whisker Graphics - Valentine Mini Album

Hello, my friends!

I'm back to share a fun project created with products from the Whisker Graphics Shop!
I'm also over on the Whisker Graphics Blog today.
You're going to want to go over there and subscribe in the sidebar,
if you haven't already done so.
That way you won't miss all the fun shares from the rest of the DT,
and all the fun ways you can use these great products!

I had so much fun putting this project together.
I'll add all the product links at the end of the post.

Here's the finished project:

I began by going through my stash of bags and pulling several printed red ones,
along with a couple of glassine bags.
I scored down the center of each bag and stacked them up,
staggering the sizes and alternating the end openings.

I also added two more Middy Bitty Bags,
along with two Little Bitty Bags.
Large Tags, in red and white, were inserted into the Little Bitty Bags.

The bags that were scored were stacked in the order shown,
and machine stitched through the center, using red thread.
The Middy Bitty Bags shown in the previous photo
were adhered along the edges of the closed ends.
This created a pocket, which you will see better soon.

The Little Bitty Bags were adhered in place on contrasting pages.

Here, the polka-dot Little Bitty Bag pocket shows through
the Glassine Middy Bitty Bag page before the page is turn.
(Say that three times fast! lol)

This photo shows the pocket formed on the left side
when the Middy Bitty Bags were adhered together.
This is another great place to insert a Large Tag.

These bags create wonderful little albums!
So many great pockets and pages to fill with tags and photos!
I'm filling mine with sweet messages of LOVE for my husband.
That's why I'm showing it to you empty! ;o)

My final step was to wrap it several times with red Bamboo Divine Twine,
and tie it in a bow.
This wrap can slip off and be used as a belly band!

Head on over to the shop and pick up an assortment of bags,
then make a fun little mini of your own!

Every year, our yard is filled with hundreds and hundreds of these beautiful Cedar Waxwings.
It's an incredible thing to see...and hear!
This FabScraps collection was perfect to showcase the photos.

·         Pink Ink (Smooch Accent Ink – Taffy)
·         Flower Die of Choice (Spellbinders Jewel Flowers and Flourishes Die)
·         Chipboard Letters - 1” tall
·         Pink Glitter

Instructions:

1.    Gather Chipboard pieces: DC97 006, 007, and chipboard title letters. Using ink of choice, ink all pieces. I used a makeup sponge to apply Smooch Accent Ink. It has a beautiful shimmer to it. Set aside to dry. Note: I used this same sponge and ink for all further inking in this project.
2.    Cut C97 001 down to 11” square. Distress edges of paper with both distressing tool and ink. Adhere to center of 12” pink cardstock.
3.    Using DS 073 Stencil, and same makeup sponge, stencil image as shown in photo. The bird and leaves are over on the right, then leaves in each of the corners.
4.    Cut a piece of pink cardstock 6” wide X 7” tall. Distress edges with tool and ink. Adhere to center of page, approximately 2 ½ “ from bottom edge. Postion photos on this cardstock.
5.    Die-cut flowers from white side of 6” X 6” paper from MC97 001A. Ink edges and center. Add glue to the center and sprinkle with glitter. Set aside to dry.
6.    Using white side of tag from MC97 001A, add journaling. Adhere in place, as shown in photo.
7.    Using white side of two bird die-cuts from MC97 001A, ink with pink ink.
8.    Finally, once everything is dry, assemble as shown in the photo. The chipboard title is adhered across the top of the page. The DC97 006 chipboard is centered on the left side, and the DC97 007 chipboard is centered on the bottom. The flowers are positioned in place over the stenciled leaves. The die-cut birds are positioned over the photos. Enjoy!

Fun With FabScraps - Wild Beauty Collection

Hello, my friends!

I have some fun new FabScaps Projects to share with you today!

Today I have two projects using the gorgeous C101 Wild Beauty Collection.

First up is an Art Journal page.
Again, as with all my FabScraps posts, I'll share the pictures,
followed by the written tutorial.

Here's the finished page:

Here's the Tutorial:

WILD BEAUTY COLLECTION
Peacock Art Journal Page
Nancy Nickel

For this project you will need:
·       FabScraps Wild Beauty Collection Paper Range C101 006
·       FabScraps Wild Beauty Card Kit MC101 001A – One Pink Peacock Page
·       FabScraps Wild Beauty Stickers ST101 001
·       FabScraps Stencil C101 DS081
·       Art Journal of Choice (Dylusions Square Creative Journal in Black)
·       Ink of Choice in Pink and Purple (Distress Oxide Ink is best on black)
·       Gel Pens – Pink and Purple
·       Stickles – Star Dust

Instructions:
1.    On left side page, ink stencil using medium of choice, as shown in photo.
2.    From C101 006, tear (or cut) around large pink peacock image, and small purple peacock image. Also, tear the peacock image from the 6 X 6 peacock page from the Card Kit. I prefer to tear these over cutting them, as it leaves a nice soft edge when adhered to the journal.
3.    Now adhere all the peacocks in place, as shown in the photo. Score the images where they sit in the crease of the journal.
4.    Using gel pens, apply stitch marks around the peacocks. Do any other doodling you choose.
5.    Take the ticket stickers from the ST101 001 Sticker Sheet, and apply them to white cardstock. Trim out leaving a narrow white border. Apply in place, as shown in photo.

6.    Apply Stickles to the images, as shown in the photo. Enjoy!

·       Punches – Decorative Border Punch (EK Success – Arches)
·                        Foliage Punch (Martha Stewart – Branch)
·       Die – Flamingo (Recollections)
·       Colouring Medium – Black (Enamel Accents)
·       Other: Black eyelet, Black flat back pearls, ribbon to match.

Instructions:
1.    Cut tag base from coral cardstock – 4 ¼” X 8 ½”.
2.    Cut C101 008 in tag shape – 4” X 8 ¼”. Distress edges. Border punch bottom edge.
3.    Adhere strip of ribbon 2” from bottom of tag front. Wrap ribbon to back and secure in place. Adhere tag front to tag base. Set aside.
4.    Take chipboard piece and colour black using medium of choice. I wanted a bit of shine, so I used black enamel accents to colour mine. Set aside to dry.
5.    Fussy cut some flowers from C101 007. Punch foliage from scraps.
6.    Choose a sentiment ticket from Sticker Sheet ST101 001. Adhere ticket sticker to a scrap of white cardstock. Trim out leaving a small white border.
7.    If you have a flamingo die, cut one out of coral cardstock. Alternatively, you could fussy cut a flamingo from the paper.
8.    Place large black eyelet in top center of tag. Place piece of ribbon through eyelet. Taking one final piece of ribbon, tie a small bow.
9.    Assemble all pieces and adhere in place on tag, referring to photo. Enjoy!
