Hymn and Scripture Challenge #15 - He Leadeth Me

Hello, my friends!
I'm here today to share the Hymn and Scripture Challenge page that should have come before the last one I posted. I'm hoping to be back very soon with the one that comes after the last one I posted, because a new one is coming out on Sunday! :o)

This is another beautiful and familiar hymn, and it holds a wonderful message for us. I will include all of the lyrics after the video for those of you who don't have time to watch it. Here, I want to share the second verse and the refrain:

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden's flowers bloom,
by waters calm, o'er troubled sea, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.
Refrain:
He leadeth me, He leadeth me; by His own hand He leadeth me:
His faithful follower I would be, for by His hand He leadeth me.

What a comfort that is...to know that it is God's hand that leads us...even in the "deepest gloom." I know that some of you are dealing with some major hardships these days. My prayers are with you! Better yet, God Himself is with you, holding your hand. It says in Psalm 73:23-24:
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you take me into glory.

A friend of mine shared verse 23 with me after my Dad died. The mental image of God holding my hand...of being that close to me...was a great comfort. He is that close to you too. Just reach out your hand and let Him lead you through your struggles! As it says in Psalm 94:18-19:

When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O Lord, supported me.
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought JOY to my soul.

In our great anxiety, God consoles us and brings us JOY, JOY, and more JOY!! That is my prayer for you! :o)

This is a very pretty video...enjoy!

He leadeth me: O blessed thought!

O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate'er I do, where'er I be,
still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.

Refrain:
He leadeth me, He leadeth me;
by His own hand He leadeth me:
His faithful follower I would be,
for by His hand He leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
sometimes where Eden's flowers bloom,
by waters calm, o'er troubled sea,
still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me. Refrain
Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine,
nor ever murmur nor repine;
content, whatever lot I see,
since 'tis my God that leadeth me. Refrain

And when my task on earth is done
when by Thy grace the victory's won,
e'en death's cold wave I will not flee,
since God through Jordan leadeth me. Refrain

How very lovely! Such a wonderful encouragement to me today this is! We still haven't found a suitable home to move to and we've been looking soooo long, with the snow coming it's hard to think of moving now. Trusting in Him for He is the one who leads.
Thank you!

Nancy, what a wonderful hymn so beautifully illustrated. I love the way hymns speak to us even when we're not consciously looking for a Word. Thanks for sharing at Word Art Wednesday this week. Blessings!

Nancy, this is a fantastic post. That is a song I am unfamiliar with. Beautiful lyrics.

Love your page for this hymn. Those green and pink bits are totally cool. Looking at your list of items used I think this is the Spellbinders die - Ironworks. Beautiful. Your bitty, medium, and large half back pearls are stunning in their placement.

Love this page, my friend. And you as well.
