Hello, my dear friends! Welcome to my very first post of 2012, and my very first post of the new Hymn and Scripture Challenge! I'm very excited about the new twist added to the Scripture Challenge this year. Patter has decided to include the study of old hymns in her lessons. Those of you who have been visiting me for a while know that I LOVE the old hymns, and I have occasionally used them along with my Scripture Challenge pages.
All of the information about the new challenge can be found by clicking on the button in my sidebar and following all the links. There's still lots of time to follow along and join right in for the fun! For the past two years I have used a 6 X 6 inch format and it's worked really well. However, if I'm going to be working with a hymn and Scripture verse, I don't think 6 inches will give me enough space. So this year I've decided to work on an 81/2 x 11 base. I think that will give me more options for design. I don't really know how this will all transpire just yet. I guess we'll just see where the Lord leads me with this one...in other words...the usual! lol I do know that I really enjoyed putting this page together, and playing with some new toys.
As for the song...oh my! This one has always made me cry! Hymns tend to do that to me for a couple of reasons. One...because I still hear my Dad singing them right into my ear! Secondly...because of the words and the meaning behind them! Please click on the picture and take the time to read the words of the song and the Bible verse. This is going to be a really wonderful series and I hope you'll all join me for it! I'm excited to share it with you...with ZEAL!! :o)

Hi Nancy, your page is beautiful! I love the banner. Thank you for visiting me. I look forward to sharing in this challenge with you and everyone who participates. Hugs, Sarah
Hi Nancy, Sure is a pretty page! Another year, again, eh? One of these days I'll join in on this one. Still have to finish the 52 week. I sure would love to see the complete albums with all your finished pages from these challenges. I'll bet they're beautiful. If I'm ever in the Yukon, i'm stopping by. LOL! Happy New year friend! M
Oh, I loved it when you said you needed a box of tissues. I am so glad I am not the only one that cries when I watch that! I have purchased two of his albums now after watching that video! Anyway, your page is beautiful! Love the soft blues, the circles, and the banner at the top. So fun! I am glad to have you joining in again, and what a memory of your dad. Hugs to you!
:) What a beautiful page to start off 2012!I always cry whenever i hear this song...and whenever i find myself feeling down, i listen to Christian songs (The Rodeo Preacher) but unfortunately couldn't find any copy of their CD anymore. It helps me to calm down and feel better.
Thanks so much for sharing your heart healing scripture Nancy.
Warm hugs!
Joy
Oh my goodness Nancy, I love this page! Just beautiful. I may have to change mine from 6X6 to a larger size. We will see. By the way, thanks for the prayers and yes I am in a building that is only a year old and vacuumed or cleaned every night. So at work, I have also been laying some on the floor. Thanks for the prayers, they are always a blessing to me and welcome. Blessings to you dear friend!
Beautifully done, Nancy. This hymn always makes tear up. I love everything about this. TFS... Hugs!
LOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!
I love any version or variation of Amazing Grace there is, although I am not to fond of it sung to the tune from Gilligan's Islands theme song. Your page is wonderful. I may end up regretting the size of page I selected so you are probably very wise to have increased the size. Look forward to the weeks ahead.
Oh what a beautiful page Nancy! Precious Jesus we serve!! Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting on my page:)
Amazing Nancy! I love how you can see all the words to the hymn and your verse so clearly. I love your handwriting! The banner and flowers look fabulous! I just love it!
Nancy, this is so very nice. I do like the soft colours and that blue goes so well with the soft brown colours.
I like the little banner you have made with the title.
Thankyou for your kind thoughts which are much appreciated... my dear mother is still alive if you can call it being alive.
STUNNING!~
Nancy, what a wonderful & beautiful page you have made. A great start to the new year.
I love that hymn, it has mixed emotions for me...
Hugs Yvonne :)
Amazing Grace...what a beautiful song God is so good and deserving of our praise. You created such a beautiful page, love the brown and blues Have a Blessed week!!!
This is one of my favorites of your projects. I just love the color scheme and you've got some really pretty embellies and fun shapes.
We sang this song at church today, but it certainly didn't sound like Mr. Phipps! LOL What a wonderful clip! I can see your pages are going to bless me again this year. :-) Thanks my friend!
A beautiful start for the new challenge Nancy, I am so glad you are doing bigger pages - more creative goodness to look at!Love the colours and you always choose such wonderful scriptures!
So, so nice, Nancy! Love the title banner and all your pretty details in the soft colors! I checked out Patter's blog and this challenge...I would love to join in...especially with the hymns being incorporated. I know myself, though...I'm not good with anything more involved than a card. And I've been feeling the need to get some layouts of my kids done. The older and faster they grow...the more aware I am that I must get some of these sweet moments documented. Either direction I go would be a good thing, and I know with the Lord's help...and some serious discipline...I could accomplish both...so say a prayer for me! Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Nancy! I just wanted to stop in to check out your page. It's been a while since I took time to browse. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years!
Have a great week!
Lynn

Very lovely. Great soft blue color...goes perfectly with mood of the song. I love the banner.
My, oh my! Beautiful page you have created. I really like your color choices.
This year will prove to be quite exciting :D A "two-fer" :D Scripture verse and an old hymn. You are so creative and talented, my Friend and you bless my heart each day I drop by your blog.
Love you - Leslie
A beautiful page Nancy and love the colour scheme and the banner.
This is a favourite song of mine and especially the old spirituals. As you know I am not a 'believer' but I do love many of the old hymns and spiritual songs move me a great deal:)
We'd love to see you joining in with our informal challenges too:) At the moment it is altering dominoes! You could incorporate those on your layouts.
Love and hugs
Lynn x
A beautiful page! I think it's wise to go the size you've chosen.
