Ephemera's Vintage Garden - Mabel's Diary - Project #2

Hello, my friends!

I'm back with my second project using this great Journal Kit from Ephemera's Vintage Garden.
This kit is called Mabel's Diary, and it's wonderful!

It's probably no surprise to you that I have made a mini album.
It's a fairly small mini measuring only 3 1/2 X 5 1/4 inches.
It fits perfectly in my hand.

This weekend is our Canadian Thanksgiving.
With that in mind, I turned this into a sweet little "Remember Gratitude" book.
It's full of tags and ephemera that I can write on and fill up with all the things I have to be thankful for.
Given recent circumstances in my life, it's important to spend time remembering gratitude! :o)

Okay, here's how I did it.

The kit will normally print "fit to page" to create a 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 inch page.
What I did was fit 2 printable pages on one 8 1/2 X 11 paper.

I cut the pages all out and then adhered them back to back only on three sides.
I kept the tops open to hold the tags.
On the last page-set I left the side open instead of the top.
Then I trimmed two of the tags down and inserted them side by side.
I like to have little bits extending beyond the page.

For the front and back covers, I cut chipboard 1/4 inch bigger than the page.
I inked the edges, adhered the cover pages, and then adhered them to the inside pages,
on both the front and the back.
I wrapped a piece of lace around the spine, and adhered some decorative pieces to the cover.

Here's a side view:

Here's the back:

This is the inside front cover.
Isn't the distressing fantastic?
Lots of room to write.

Such pretty pages!
On the right side I added a little band.
The band holds a little envelope full of some great ephemera bits.
This envelope is only 1 3/4 inches wide...so cute!

For these pages I added a heart to one corner for a pocket.
In the pocket is another wonderful envelope.
It measures almost 2 1/2 X 2 inches.

More beautiful artwork!
On the right-hand side I fussy cut the images from a second printout.
I then layered them on top of the page, leaving it partly loose to hold the cute little tags.

Here's another heart pocket holding more ephemera bits.

Here, on the left-hand page is another belly band.
I fussy cut three little tags, attached them together with a flower brad, and tucked them in.

Isn't this pretty?
On the right is another little tag pocket full of goodies.

Here is the back inside cover, which is the same as the front.

This picture shows how I decorated all of the tags.

This journal is fabulous! This would be just the right size to sit on a bedside table, and it would be beautiful to look at closed. Something to write some daily gratitude thoughts in. Gorgeous
