Ephemera's Vintage Garden - Paris In My Heart - Project #3

Hello, my friends!

Today I'm back with my third and final project using the "Paris In My Heart" Printable Journal Kit from Ephemera's Vintage Garden!

With my impending trip to Paris in mind, I was going to decorate a box to place all my trip momentoes in.
My very talented teamie at EVG just posted an incredible box made using another printable journal kit.
(You can see it HERE)
So I decided to come up with something different.
I hope you like it!

Have you seen any of the incredible folded book art on Pinterest?
WOW!!
I remember doing this when I was a kid.
Back then we used the Sears catalogue or a phone book.
I would having to wait until the winter catalogue expired because it was always the biggest one.
I made several that had different patterns and designs.
For this project I made the most simple design.
It's a great place to tuck in all kinds of goodies.

Here's what I did:

I found an old book I had that was the size I wanted.
I started at one end and simply folded each page into the center until every page was folded.
I then inked the folds with several colours of distress ink.
For some reason the ink isn't showing in my photo but it's pretty.
I then printed the journal cover page from the kit, and adhered it to the inside of the front and back cover.
Then I printed out some of the tags and ephemera from the kit.
I inked the edges of everything and simply tucked them into the book.

* * * * *
For photo purposes I simply tucked them all into the middle section
but you can tuck something into each of the folds.
They stay in there nice an snug.

This wonderful kit makes such a beautiful display!

You can also place it on a shelf with the back cover up at a 45 degree angle.
Then the pretty back cover shows like this:

{Glory Art} Scripture Challenge #3 - Truth

Hello, my sweet friends!

I'm so glad you stopped by!
I've got my next Scripture Challenge tag to share with you.

The word Patter gave us for Challenge #3 is "Truth".
As soon as I heard it, this Scripture verse came to my mind, and so did the design.
The only problem was that when the design was complete
...there wasn't room for the entire verse!
So I have the complete Scripture on the back of my tag.
It is found in John 8: 32, and says:

"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Jesus is the truth and He will set us free:
free from worry, free from fear, free from facing life alone.

Sounds more like a study on freedom than truth, doesn't it?
Well, we can't be truly FREE without the TRUTH!

February Digi of the Month Challenge at Deedee's Digis

Hello, my friends!

You may remember that last month I made a card using a free digi that I received from Deedee's Digis.

I linked it up to the January challenge, and just for doing that I received another free digi.

I used this one to make a Valentine card for my daughter and son-in-law.
She doesn't usually come to my blog unless I tell her there's something to see.
I'm hoping she won't suddenly pop in before the card arrives! ;o)

I'm linking this one up for the February Digi of the Month Challenge at Deedee's
and then I will receive another free digi to make a project in March.
Isn't that fun?

It also comes pre-coloured but I opted to colour mine with my Spectrum Noir markers.

{Glory Art} Scripture Challenge #2 - Representative

Hello, my friends!

Today I have a new {Glory Art} Scripture Challenge tag to share with you.

The word that Patter gave us this time was "Representative."
For some reason the first thing that popped into my head was a man in a business suit.
So I just went with it!

It used to be understood that when people worked for a company,
they were representatives of that company.
It was important, for both the company and the employee, to give their very best effort.
The way they dressed, the way they treated other people, their manners;
it was all a reflection of the company they worked for.
People took pride in the way they did their job.

That seems to have changed a great deal.
Society has become more concerned with the expression of individual rights and freedoms.
"I can dress how I want, do what I want, say what I want"
...has become the norm.
Everyone just seems to be putting in time to collect their pay.
Kindness and good manners, along with professionalism, seems to be a thing of the past.

I'm not saying this is true everywhere.
I'm just sharing my thought process as I was meditating on this Scripture verse,
and explaining my design.

So this leads me to the Scripture challenge aspect of the word "Representative".
It used to be that followers of Jesus Christ were "different" in their behaviour.
They could be picked out in a crowd by the way they acted, spoke, and treated other people.
Sadly, that is no longer the case.
The lines have been blurred by our sinful nature.
We have become a people of judgement, criticism, and selfishness
.
Jesus did not judge...He loved!
Jesus did not criticize...He lovingly corrected!
Jesus was not selfish...He gave freely!

If we are to be REPRESENTATIVES of Christ then we need to follow the example that He gave us!
The old WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) thing really makes sense,
and being "different" is a very good thing!

I am grateful to have received this reminder this week! :o)

Materials Used:
Papers: Recollections - Cardstock;
Punch: EK Success Border Punch - Notebook;
Ribbon: Stampin' Up;
Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher;
Dymo Label Maker.

Happy Snowy Winter Day!

Happy Friday, my friends!

We're enjoying a little bit of a blizzard here...woohoo
...so I thought it was a good time to share this card with you,
 along with a few photos I recently took of my yard.

A few months ago I participated in a blog hop over at Milk Coffee
and was delighted to win several digis along with one custom digi.
I gave the girls an idea of what I wanted and they sent me this fabulous image.
It's called "Madeline Warm Coffee" and I just love it.
You can find it in their etsy shop right HERE.

It was the perfect project to use some of my knew dies on!

Materials used:
Papers: Recollections - Cardstock;
Image: Milk Coffee - Madeline Warm Coffee,
Spectrum Noir Markers;
Dies: Spellbinders - Curved Rectangles,
Memory Box - Beloved Snowflakes, Snowflake Corner;
Pearls: Liquid Pearls - White Opal.

Now here are a few *frosty* photos for you.

Would anyone like to join me on my lawn swing?

Gorgeous clear blue sky!

My favorite little tree surrounded by bunny tracks.

That big mess of tracks in the snow is from a ginormous flock of Waxwings that were enjoying the berries on our trees.
A few more bunny tracks too!

I hope you're all enjoying the beauty of Winter where you live!
Have a wonderful weekend full of JOY! :o)

Hide His Word In My HeART - January

Happy Sunday, my friends!

I hope you're all enjoying a wonderful weekend!

Today is the beginning of something new to share with you.
I have joined a new facebook group called
"Hide His Word In My HeART".
Similar to the Glory Art Scripture challenge I'm doing,
the purpose is to combine art with the Scriptures.
It's a wonderful means of memorizing and learning the Bible verses.
For this group we receive a new Scripture verse every Sunday.
I am then creating pages that measure 6 1/2" X 8" to fit in a binder I have.

My goal is to share these pages with you every 4th Sunday.
I won't do a big write-up about them (like I"m doing now).
I will just post the page, and maybe a short explanation.

Here we go!

Week 1:

Week 2:

Week 3:

Week 4:

Thanks so much for visiting today!

If you have any questions about any of the pages or products,
please let me know in a comment.
I hope you'll come back in 4 weeks to see more!

Hope your day is full of JOY!! :o)
