Lia Stampz - Challenge #45 - Your Country's Colors

Hello again, my friends!
Surprise! I'm back again already to share with you the new challenge over at Lia Stampz! The challenge is to create something using your country's colors. Since I'm from Canada my colors are red and white. I used the super sweet image from Lia Stampz called "Lucy Spring". You can find it right HERE. All of Lia's fabulous images are available at Whimsy Stamps.

This card was lots of fun to put together. Since there's a butterfly on the image, I really had to play with some butterflies. The strip across the top is a double layer using the Tim Holtz Butterflight On the Edge die. I backed a polka-dot vellum with red cardstock. The other butterflies are all cut using the Stampin' Up Beautiful Wings Embosslit. They are made with three layers; the vellum, red cardstock, and white cardstock. I split a white doily in half and layered it with a red die cut. I added the pearls, and the sentiment. When it was all put together I edged all the vellum butterflies with stickles, then added more stickles to the image.

So what are your country's colors? Why don't you create something and link it up over at Lia Stampz? You might win a digi stamp...or you might be our "Spotlight Artist"! You really must pop over to the blog just to take a look at the fantastic new blog design! :o)

Hymn and Scripture Challenge #10 - Open My Eyes, That I May See

Happy Monday, my friends!
I am back today with a quick post to share my next Scripture Challenge page! This is another beautiful favorite of mine! Here are the lyrics:

Open my eyes, that I may see glimpses of truth thou hast for me;
place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set my free.
Silently now I wait for Thee, ready, my God, Thy will to see.
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear voices of truth though sendest clear;
and while the wavenotes fall on my ear, everything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for Thee, ready, my God, Thy will to see.
Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my mouth, and let me bear gladly the warm truth everywhere;
open my heart and let me prepare love with thy children this to share.
Silently now I wait for Thee, ready, my God, Thy will to see.
Open my heart, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Aren't those words beautiful? I based my page on the line that is in bold print. The Scripture verse I used is found in John 8:32. It says:

"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free!"

There is a special freedom and peace that comes only from knowing the Lord!

My page is very simple...again! Yet I felt nothing else was needed...again! I wish you all a week full of blessings! :o)

For some reason I couldn't upload this lovely version of the song. I hope you will listen to it HERE.

I had already finished my page when I heard this fabulous song by Lynda Randle.
It's called I'm free, and here are the lyrics:

So long, I searched for life's meaning
enslaved by the world and my greed.
Then the door of my prison was opened by love,
for the ransom was paid; I was free!

I'm free from the fear of tomorrow,
I'm free from the guilt of my past.
I've traded my shackles for a glorious song,
I'm free, praise the Lord, free at last!

I am free from the guilt that I carried;
from the dull empty life, I'm set free.
For when I met Jesus, He made me complete.
He forgot the foolish child I used to be.

I'm free from the fear of tomorrow,
I'm free from the guilt of my past.
Oh! I traded my shackles for a glorious song,
I'm free, praise the Lord, free at last!

I've traded my shackles for a glorious song!
I'm free, praise the Lord, free at last!

Hymn and Scripture Challenge #9 - This Is My Father's World

Hello, my friends!
I've been so busy staying ahead with my DT work that I have fallen behind on my Hymn and Scripture pages. I'm not happy about that...so you can expect to see the next ones very soon!
Today's hymn is one of my FAVORITE hymns!! Yes, I always say "favorite" but when I capitalize it I REALLY mean it! lol
My page is very simple. I did consider embellishing it but decided that would interfere with the message it holds. I used my Music Notes wheel stamp over a piece of kraft paper. I printed out this fabulous Map Of Canada image that Pamela had over at Free Vintage Digital Stamps. I cut it down and punched it with my new doily punch - it represents the world. The title is cut out with my Cricut. I cut out the scalloped circle and wrote my chosen Scripture verses on it. I then backed that with a plain black circle. I added some word strips in the bottom corners. These are taken from the final verse of the hymn, which is the verse that inspired my page. It says:
"This is my Father's world, O let me ne'er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world, why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King! Let heaven ring! God reigns! Let earth be glad!"

Isn't that fabulous? I think we should all sing this every time we watch the news! We all know the terrible devastation that is going on all around the world these days; fires, tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes and floods. The list could just go on and on! What an incredible comfort to know that God is still the Ruler, it is HIS world...and He reigns!! Why should our hearts be sad? Can you imagine the sound of heaven ringing? This leads me to the Scripture verses I used on my page. Psalm 98:8-9 says:
"Let the rivers clap their hands,
let the mountains sing together for joy;
let them sing before the Lord, for He comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples with equity."

Okay, so put it all together and let's imagine that incredible sound. We've got heaven ringing, the rivers clapping their hands, and the mountains singing together for joy! Hokey Dinah...I'm ready to hear that!! Please don't let your hearts be sad by what goes on in this world. God is good...and God RULES! :o)

A Little Something New!

Happy weekend, my friends!
A short time ago I shared a card I made using a Wendy Burns digi. You can see that post HERE. I mentioned then that this sweet image had inspired me to create something else. I'm here today to show you that project. I REALLY enjoy making stitcheries! I hadn't done one for ages but this image was just calling out to be stitched!
I used the same image that is called "I Love My Puppy" and it can be found right HERE. Here are the links to Wendy's Etsy Shop and her blog.
I started by printing the digi out at 8 1/2 X 11, then trimmed it to 8 X 10. I cut a piece of muslin and laid it over the image, and traced the lines. Then I framed the muslin piece with the printed fabric and some rick rack. The stitching is all done with 3 strands of DMC embroidery floss. I pulled the colors from the fabric. When the stitching was finished I added the buttons, made my quilt sandwich and finished it off. The final measurements are 14 X 16. Wendy's whimsical design was just right for this type of work! I had so much fun making this that I've already started another one! It's making me look at all my digital images in a whole new way! :o)

Here's a closer look at the stitched portion.
The lighter colored flowers don't show up as well in the photo as they do in real life.

Have a wonderful weekend! :o)

Sushi Dolls #12 - Forever In Love

Hello, my friends!
I hope you're all having a lovely week! It's been really hot here and I have actually been missing winter! lol  I know, I know...but I do not like hot weather! Despite the heat I've been doing some fun creating. I am almost finished something that I've been spending some time on, plus more cards are coming up!
Today I have a new Sushi Doll card to share. This card has been finished for some time but I couldn't share it with you until I had given it to my daughter and the boy!
A little while back I put a bug in Susi's ear about a wedding digi, since wedding was the theme of my life. She came up with this fun image! It's called "Forever In Love" and you can find it HERE!
Also, Susi's design team call has been extended until July 6th. If you want to have some fun playing with dolls too, just pop over to the Sushi Dolls Blog HERE and read all the details.
As you already know, the wedding colors were red and turquoise. I continued with that for this card. Just some punching and some layering and some stickles and bling... and done! See you soon! :o)
