Rinea - A Creative Mind Canvas

Hello, my friends!

I'm back with a new Rinea project share!
This time I have created a mixed media project.
I think you can guess how much fun I had with this one! ;o)

I have used the gorgeous Princess Foiled Paper Variety Pack!
I've also used some Ebony/Ebony Starstruck Foiled Paper,
and some Ebony/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper.

Again, we are partnering with Rita Barakat!
 I've used a fabulous face stencil called Sweet Sisters Flower.

Here is the canvas I created:

I began with the stencil and a piece of watercolor paper.
I drew the face with a pigma marker,
and colored the face with distress markers and a water brush.

I painted the canvas, did a little bit of white texture stamping,
and adhered the face in place.
I added hair of brown texture paste.
When it was dry, I stenciled a pattern over the brown,
in an almond colored texture paste.

Then I gathered an assortment of my little punches,
and the Rinea Foiled Paper listed above,
and got busy punching!

Using tweezers, and multi matte medium,
I adhered all the punched pieces in place.
I used a stylus to shape and add dimension before adhering.
Here's a closer look:

See all the pretty dimension:

Finally, I die-cut the title from the Glossy Black Foiled Paper.
I layered the letters on some black cardstock to make them thicker.
Here's a final look at the finished canvas:

Other Materials Used:
8 x 10 Canvas;
Watercolor Paper;
Acrylic Paint;
Black Pigma Pen;
Distress Markers;
Texture Paste;
Assorted Punches;
Ranger Multi Matte Medium.

Ephemera's Vintage Garden - Gentlemen and Scholars - Project #1

Hello, my friends!

Can you believe that it's March already?

There are many reasons to be excited about that fact,
and I have one to share with you today.

With a new month comes a new project for Ephemera's Vintage Garden.
This time we will be working with the fabulous kit called "Gentlemen and Scholars".
You can find it right HERE.

After printing this kit out, I was inspired to create a mixed media canvas.

I got very excited when I heard the name of this kit.
Are you familiar with the line "You're a gentleman and a scholar..."?
It's actually a quote from The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.
I remember my brother using this line in our younger years.
Not to me...mind you! ;o)
If he wasn't gone I would gift this to him but I enjoyed thinking of him as I created it.

Here is the finished canvas:

This was such a FUN project to make!
I have a couple of photos of my process
just to show you how easy it is.

I began with a 12 X 12 Tim Holtz District Market Burlap Canvas.
I gave it a coat of white gesso.

Next, I printed out the pages of the printable journal kit.
I tore random pieces, in different shapes and sizes,
and arranged them in a pleasing manner on the canvas.
The papers were kept from the edge, so that the burlap would still show.

I then adhered all the papers in place using matte multi medium.
I left it alone until it had air-dried.
Using mists and sprays in complimentary colours,
I sprayed the entire canvas...even the burlap edges.
Again, I let it air dry.
Then I pulled out several texture stamps, and used black archival ink to stamp the canvas.
You can click on the photo to see the detail.

All that was left was the embellishing and decorating.
I fussy cut the elements I wanted to use from the kit.
I cut the title words out of black chipboard.
Finally, I raided my hoard of Tim Holtz goodies and scattered them about the canvas.

In the bottom left corner, I placed some burlap trim under this gentleman,
to which I added a quote band.
You can also see the gears and the word stick.

In the top right corner I placed another gentleman.
Again, with a burlap trim underneath him,
along with another quote band.
You can see that these metal embellishments are perfect for this collection.

I liked this hand placed under the "GENTLEMAN" and pointing at the gentleman.
I cut the collection title from one of the printed pages, and placed it in the label pull.
It was the perfect fit!

Here's another look.
You can also see the background details in these photos.

This final angle shot shows some of the dimension.

Remember Me?

Hello, my dear friends!

I am finally back to share a new project with you!
It's been taking me quite some time to get back into the swing of things after my big adventure!
I hope to be around to visit you all very soon!
I've missed you! :o)

This is the second project using the wonderful "Ephemera's Heartsong" kit
from Ephemera's Vintage Garden
  You can find it HERE.

I must say that I think this is one of my very favorite kits from EVG.
It is so cheerful and versatile!

This time I opted to decorate a 6 X 6 canvas.
Using only the Heartsong Kit, and some lovely embellishments from Where Ideas Bloom,
I turned it into this fun photo/memo holder!

I have placed a beautiful flower photo in the holder, as it matched beautifully!
It could also be used for a calendar or schedule reminders.

The girl, flowers, and sentiment are all popped up on foam tape.
I added the fun star buttons in matching colours.
I added glitter to the center of the flowers and on the stars.
I also placed Glossy Accents over the words to make them shine.

Here's a closer look!
I have also added some stickles to the girls hair for added dimension.
Isn't that a great sentiment? :o)

Here you can see the depth of the canvas.
Using my Dremel, I drilled a hole in the center of the top of the canvas.
I then placed the memo holder into the hole and added glue to secure it.
Finally, I added a ribbon bow and a butterfly from the kit.

Blog Birthday Party

Hello, my friends!

Today is a day to celebrate!
My dear friend Dunja is having her 7 year Blog Birthday Party!
She has invited several of her friends to join her in a blog hop.
I am thrilled to have been invited to be part of all the fun!

I met Dunja shortly after I started blogging.
It was always so inspiring to visit her blog and see her beautiful projects.
We became fast friends!

When Dunja started her own Challenge Blog...A Die for a Sketch
...I was beyond excited to be in on it from the very beginning!
It was my very first DT and I enjoyed every minute of it!
Several of the girls from that DT have become my closest blog friends.

So Dunja is very special to me!
Congratulations to you, on seven successful years, my friend! :o)

Now...let's get on with the party! :o)

Dunja has created this wonderful mood board for the occasion.

Isn't it fabulous!
It inspired me to create this 6 X 6 canvas project.

I tore some paper strips and layered them onto the front of the canvas.
I heat embossed the dandelion images in white.
I then heat embossed again over the white using a sparkly gold embossing powder.
The same gold was embossed around the edges.
The sentiment was stamped with white ink,
and then embossed with clear embossing powder.

The sides of the canvas were coloured with distress stain,
and then stamped with a wood plank stamp.

 This photo shows the sparkle a bit better.
 I added some wood veneers that were coloured with gold smooch.
Finally, I added some pretty sequins.

Materials Used:
6 X 6 Canvas
Papers: Recollections - Charming Paper Pad;
Stamps: CTMH - Treasures, Bo Bunny - Wall to Wall Textures;
Ink: Distress Ink - Walnut Stain, Distress Embossing Ink,
CTMH - Ponderosa Pine, SSS - White;
