Sushi Dolls #5 - Sushi Music Note

Happy Wednesday to all of you!
I'm back already with a new project! This time I had fun with another Sushi Doll image. I knew what I would do with this one as soon as I saw it. Those of you that follow my Hymn & Scripture Challenge posts know that I am doing an 8 1/2 " square format for my pages this year. I decided on that size because they fit perfectly into this Teresa Collins album I had. The album was from her Chic Bebe Girl collection. They weren't quite right the way they were, so I had to alter them. This sweet Sushi Music Note image just had to be used!
I have to chuckle every time I look at this image...some days it's the only way I can carry a tune! lol
I used some of the goodies I still had out on my table, including some extras of the stitched flowers I made. This time I layered them up with some smaller inked flowers. Some layers, bling and lace and it was finished. I hope you like it! Please go take a look at Susi's fabulous new March release of Sushi Dolls HERE. Sushi Music Note was from the February release and you can find her HERE too, just scroll down until you see her. Also, the links to the rest of the Design Team are in my sidebar.  If you have any questions, please let me know! :o)

Hymn and Scripture Challenge #3 - My Faith Looks Up to Thee

Hello, my lovely friends!
I'm back today with my next challenge page...and I'm only a few days late! :o)
This is a wonderful hymn that I really enjoy singing! Did you notice I'm trying to word things a bit differently? You must be getting bored with me always saying "this is my favorite hymn". lol  As soon as Patter posted this challenge I had an idea of what I was going to create. However, as I was looking for a Scripture verse before I began, the Lord led me in a totally different different direction with my page. I love it when that happens!
My page comes from the third verse of the song, which says:

"While life's dark maze I tread, and griefs around me spread,
be Thou my guide;
bid darkness turn to day, wipe sorrow's tears away,
nor let me ever stray from Thee aside."

Isn't that beautiful?
So many of us are dealing with pain on a daily basis! Whether it is physical or emotional, or a matter of circumstances of loss...pain hurts! Sometimes it overwhelms us and all we can do is let the tears flow!
Did you know that God understands and cares? What a blessing that is! We can take all our pain and sorrow and lay it at His feet! He will not ever leave us to suffer alone. Not only that, but one day there will be no more pain of any kind! Revelation 21:4 says:

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain,
for the old order of things has passed away."

Isn't that beautiful too?
What a day of rejoicing that will be! :o)

Now, on to my page.
I've created a scene page. This sweet little girl, with the tear on her cheek, is a digi from Jellypark. I've had fun with a new stamp & die set from Sizzix/Hero Arts. Even though there are clouds in this sky, the flowers are blooming brightly! :o)

I added a drop of Glossy Accents to the tear on her cheek. Here's a close-up:

As I was working on this page, I was listening to my Galaxy Praise and Worship channel.
A song came on and I knew I had to share it in this post. It's by Jars of Clay, and the chorus says this:

"I will sing of Your mercy
That leads me through valleys of sorrow
To rivers of JOY"

Yes, this is my favorite song at this moment, so I had to share it with you here!

Of course, I must add the Challenge Hymn too!  This is a wonderful quartet version:

There...my long post is finished! Thank you for allowing me to share it with you!
I hope you're all heading to those rivers of JOY! :o)

Hymn and Scripture Challenge #2 - It Is Well With My Soul

Happy Saturday to you all!
Can you believe this is my third post in three days? That never happens! If you've missed my last two posts, please scroll down and take a peek when you're finished here.

I'm back today with my next Hymn and Scripture Challenge page, and with this one I am all caught up!
This is one of my favorite hymns! It's one of those hymns that when I sing it I hear my Dad sing in my ear.  What a sweet blessing! My page was inspired by the first verse which says:

"When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, it is well, it is well, with my soul."

So, I was going to make my page with water and "sea billows" but when I looked at my Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit, I decided to use this beautiful cloud page. The colors and design of these materials really promote the feeling of peace that I was going for. The hearts represent the great love the Lord has for us. A love so great that He died on the cross just to save us:
"My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!"

Again, this verse brings peace to mind. What a wonderful peace we have knowing that we have complete forgiveness of our all our sins. A special gift of peace that we carry with us, as we deal with all the hardships and pains of life in this world. A peace that comes only from knowing our Lord.

One thing that I truly love about this song when singing it in Church, is the way everyone sings the last verse! There is an incredible excitement and JOY as soon as we hit this verse:

"And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, even so, it is well with my soul."

What a day that will be! :o)

Happy Thanksgiving with my first ATC!

Happy Thanksgiving wishes for all my friends to the south...and to everybody else, as well!
Here in Canada, we celebrated our Thanksgiving in October. I consider EVERY day a Thanksgiving, so I'm celebrating along with you! God is so good, and He blesses us beyond measure!
A short time ago I found a 7gypsies ATC card holder on clearance for a fabulous price...I just had to get it! It's been on my "to do" list forever to make an ATC, and I thought having the holder would be great motivation. Then I started my hunt for the 7gypsies accessories for my holder. I couldn't find them anywhere! When my sweet friend Sue (from Creative Inspirations) heard about my search, she gifted me with a fabulous assortment of cards and the ATC punch too! Thank you, Sue! I was so excited! :o)
Then I heard that my other sweet friend, Anne-Marie, was going to be starting a new challenge on her blog. It's called "Faith Challenge" and there will be a new challenge every month. I thought it would be wonderful fun to participate by creating an ATC  for each new challenge. For the month of November the challenge is "Thankful". You must create a project, of any kind, and include any of the following words on it: Thanks, Thankful or Thanksgiving. You are also encouraged to include a Scripture verse on your project. How wonderful is that? :o)
Here is my first ATC. It's been gloomy and snowing ever since I finished it, so please excuse the quality of the photos. This is the front:

This is the back:

It was lots of fun to make this project! The size is so much fun to work with, and as you know...I love to use Scripture in my work! I'm really looking forward to the next challenge. Thank you, Anne-Marie! :o)
Here is my card on my ATC stand. Woohoo!! I'm well on my way to filling it! Okay, maybe not "well" but I'm on my way! lol

What is an ATC? ATC stands for Artist Trading Card. They are defined as "little pieces of art measuring 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches." Do a Google search if you're interested. These cards have a very interesting history! :o)

Rainy Day Card On A Sunny Day!

Happy Monday to you all! I hope you're all having a beautiful day in your corner of the world! :o)
I've created this card for the latest challenge over at Twist of Faith Card Challenge. I'm running a bit late but I think I'll make it with a few hours to spare! Their Challenge #6 is appropriately named "For Every Season".  During the last week we have experienced three seasons here: winter (you all heard about my snowfall), typical fall weather, and today we're back to a taste of summer! As soon as this is posted I'm heading outside to enjoy it!
I love the change of seasons! It's one of the best things about living in Canada. We have four distinct seasons and each one is special for a different reason. I have found that my favorite season has changed over the years. Is it the same for you?
For my card I picked  this wonderful Scripture verse found in Ezekiel 34:26. The second half of the verse says:

"I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing."

I must say that I have truly been showered with blessings lately, so I just had to use this verse on my card. To go along with it I used this sweet image I purchased from Birdie Brown. Do you see that look of surprise on the face of both the frog and the little girl? That's how I feel about God's overwhelming goodness to me! lol  Another reason that I really like this image is because when I was in kindergarten I had a little red cape with a hood that my Mom made for me. I loved that cape! Yes, all the kids called me Little Red Riding Hood and it didn't bother me a bit! I knew it was because they all wished they had a cape just like mine...even the boys! haha It was just that cool! ;o) It doesn't really show up in the picture but I put Glossy Accents on all the raindrops and created a puddle of it at the bottom of the card. I added the one little flower in her hair.
I hope that you are enjoying whatever season you find yourself in today! Just remember that there is JOY and beauty in every season of weather...and of life too! :o)

Materials Used:
Papers: K & Company - Sweet Nectar, Recollection Cardstock;

Punches: Stampin' Up -  Large Boho Blossoms,

I usually only share music videos with my Hymn and Scripture Challenge posts. However, when I was working on my card this beautiful song came on. One line was "...what if Your blessings came through raindrops?..." It was just so appropriate to the season of my card that I had to share it with all of you!
Please listen to it and enjoy! :o)

Happy Snowy Wednesday!

Hello, my friends! I must say I had the best time making this card! I think part of it is because I started in a rather giddy mood! We had our first snowfall today! Woohoo!! I love the first snowfall of the year! There's something extra fun about creating in a cozy craft-room while watching big white flakes falling from the sky! Of course, it's stopped now and there's nothing on the ground...but I suspect it will return one day soon! lol
On to my card...
I made this card using my Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit. I just opened the box and went where it led. My favorite paper is the whole kit is the old barn wood page that I used in the center of my card. It looks exactly like a table that I have outside on my patio. I would call it my favorite piece of furniture...but that would just be crazy!? ;o) It was rescued from the little old house that was on our yard before we built our house. I digress yet again...
I stamped the flowers and leaves onto a soft floral paper using ink from a previous kit. Then I fussy cut around all the pieces, including the skinny little stems. I cut the flower out twice and layered it with dimensionals. I cut the doily die out of another soft gingham paper from the kit. Since the wood piece was cut with a pinking shear type die, I used my pinking shears to cut out the sentiment, and popped that up on dimensionals as well. For the ruffle along the bottom, I just put down a piece of Score Tape and finger pleated the wrinkle ribbon from the kit along the tape, tucking in the ends. Then I created a double bow using my fingers. I once watched a Bow Easy demo on making a double bow and realized you can use your fingers in exactly the same way! ;o) Finally, I used my new favorite product! I added all the pearly bits with the White Opal Liquid Pearls that was included in the kit! I seriously had to stop myself from adding more! It's the first time I've used that product and I will definitely be using it MUCH more! LOVE it!
I hope you can see how much I enjoyed this one! There was something about opening this kit box today with no plan in mind and just playing! I like the contrast of the old wood and the delicate doily, then you add the soft floral, the sparkly pearl and my favorite kind of sentiment...it all adds up to a Happy Snowy Wednesday! I hope yours was happy too! :o)

A Productive Saturday Post!

Hello, my friends! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend so far! I can't believe it's been a whole week since my last post! Well, actually I can believe it! lol We have been having the most beautiful summer weather here, and I've been spending time outside! My husband also surprised me by taking a couple of days off work this week, so any plans I had for crafting went out the window and we did some fun things together instead! :o)
However, today was a different story entirely! My husband is busy working on yard stuff and I actually finished three projects...yes, THREE! I'm only showing you one though! The others will be coming soon!
I created this card for the Twist Of Faith Card Challenge #4 - Thinking Of You. The Scripture verse they shared this week is Philippians 1:3-4 and it's among my favorites, of course. Rather then write it on the front of my card, this time I wrote it on the inside. It says:
"I thank God for you whenever I think of you.
I always have joy whenever I pray for you." (NLV)

Isn't that lovely? So this card goes out to all of you, my friends! I thank God for each of you...always! Whenever I see your comment or you come to my mind, I joyfully say a prayer for you! I appreciate you! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and I'll be back soon with more! :o)

Some Comfort For A Friday!

Happy Friday, my beautiful friends!
Thanks so much for popping in again! I'm jumping right in with my second participation post with Twist of Faith Card Challenges! This week is Challenge #2...Comfort, and that's what my card is all about!
I love this verse found in Jeremiah 31:13. The entire verse is:

"Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well.
I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow."

Yes, the Lord is my source of comfort and joy! I've had a crazy "Murphy" kind of day here today! lol  I'm thankful that I can finish this post and sit down with a hot cup of tea and enjoy some quiet time of prayer and meditation! :o)

Just A Little Kindness!

Hello my dear Friends!
Okay...I've tried starting this post three times...now I'm just going to spit it out! lol What has happened to KINDNESS?? As I was making my rounds of facebook, youtube and blogger I was so saddened to see how many people are dealing with hurt feelings because of mean comments people have left for them. There seems to be a trend going on these days. A trend of being unkind to each other. Have you seen it? How do you feel about it? I don't like it at all!
Then I went to my sweet friend Holly's blog and she had a wonderful quote about kindness (HERE). It said:

Always be a little kinder than necessary.
J.M. Barrie

Isn't that wonderful! By the way, I would encourage you to pop over and join Holly's blog, it's FABULOUS! Her posts are always short so they never take much time! lol Sometimes they are very thought provoking, and sometimes they are hilarious but they are always very encouraging! :o)
Anyways, after reading Holly's post I was inspired to create a post of my own about kindness. Of course, my favorite quotes always come from the Bible! 1 Thessalonians 5:15 says:

Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong,
but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.

The verse I used on my card is the first half of Ephesians 4:32. The entire verse says:

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other,
just as in Christ God forgave you!

I chose this verse because it really covers both ends of what I've seen. We are told to be kind. Since there are those that choose to be unkind...we are then told to be compassionate and forgiving. It certainly doesn't help the situation to be unkind back to someone who has been unkind to us. Perhaps we could maybe try to understand why they were being unkind in the first place. I think there are lots of very unhappy and hurting people in the world, and sometimes they just feel better if they lash out and make someone else feel a little bit of what they themselves are feeling. That can't be a fun way to live, can it? On the other hand, there are those that aren't even aware that they have been mean because they just don't know any better. Well, I say we should just start spreading as much kindness as we can and teach them better! I don't know how to do that other than by one act of kindness at a time; a smile :o), a kind comment, and an encouraging word! Oh, let's not forget forgiving the unkindness of those that don't know better! :o)
Hmmm...maybe we need to start a Kindness Challenge of some kind...

Be Still and Know...

Yay...I've got an earlier start this week! This is my card for the Challenge #16 over at Word Art Wednesday HERE. Cassandra made another beautiful Word Art. It's one of my favorite Scripture verses and I know some of you will have seen me use it on projects before.
This photo holds special memories for me. It was taken very early one quiet morning. Is there anything like the quiet stillness of an empty forest? Of course, a forest is never really empty, is it? There's a wonderful peace and stillness even with all the forest inhabitants. It's a wonderful time and place to "be still" and listen to the Lord! I hope you all a week of happy days! :o)

A New Tag!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! It's been a while since I've made a tag. I was inspired to do so by a GORGEOUS one I received in my mailbox this week! I linked this one up earlier this morning at Word Art Wednesday when there were only 9 minutes left to do so! lol Now I've come back to finish up my post. Life has been keeping me from my play time this week. I haven't done my blog rounds either but I hope to take care of some of that soon, and don't even get  me started on my email situation! lol
Okay, so on to my tag! The picture didn't turn out too bad considering how dark it was when I took it this morning. Some of the "lightness" of it actually shows. The orange ribbon came with a recent order that I made from Layers of Color. My stamps were wrapped in lovely tissue with this ribbon around them. It has a beautiful shimmery iridescence to it that worked well with my light theme. I just had to make my yoyo flower from the leftover piece. Anyways, seen in person, the whole tag looks like a light is shining from it. I'm not quite sure how it happened but I like it! :o)

Second Post Today? I'm Shocked Too!!

I'm happy to be entering this card in Word Art Wednesday Challenge #14. The wonderful Word Art was created by Cassandra from Word Art Wednesday. I'm also entering this at Little Birdie Blessings Scripture Thursday. Both links will be below. The first picture had to be redone because all of the rhinestones showed up red. The red top I was wearing was reflecting in them...so funny! So I changed out of my red Valentine top to take this photo! If you missed my first post of the day, please scroll down and take a look. Oops...I did it again!! LOL

Isn't that a song? "Oops..I did it again!" lol Well, I did it again with the Card Crafter's Circle Bears Challenge. I was sure I had just enough time to post this card...but I was too late...again! haha One day I will be on time again! I am entering it in two other challenges that are listed below the photo.
I was sneezing and sniffling too much  to do  any detail colouring (the cold part of my flu is making a return appearance), so I used the Chalkboard Technique instead. You can see my post explaining the technique HERE.
